The one true test to know if your resume is a great one…
Every Professional Resume Writer, Career Coach, HR Manager and Recruiter has a different opinion when it comes to resume formats:
• One page, two, three or four?
• Font size 10, 11, 12
• Times New Roman, Calibri, or Verdana?
• Include a Summary or not?
And the list goes on and on….. The best way to know if you have a great resume is if you are getting interviews. If you are getting interviews, excellent, you got a winner!
However the one true test to know if your resume is a great one…, if your phone isn’t ringing then you need to make changes. What needs to be improved?
The first step is to customize your resume to the specific position you are applying for. You simply cannot use the same resume over and over again. You need to speak the language of the hiring company. Add those words that are being used in the job description to your resume.
The second step is to consolidate your resume to use only those items that are relevant to the position you are applying for. What were your responsibilities and what did you accomplish?
The third step is to test your new resume. Keep tweaking it until you are getting the results you want!
